چکیده

A study was conducted to determine the types of gene action different yield-related traits in tomato and combining ability four advanced lines. The heterotic response hybrids also assessed. Analysis variance (ANOVA) revealed significant differences (P ≤ 0.05) among all traits. General (GCA) specific (SCA) for chosen were computed using Griffing’s approach diallel. Combining additive non-additive genetic effects selected T-1360 found as a good general combiner number cluster plant-1, average fruit weight, flowers cluster-1, length, yield. GCA SCA ratio less than 0.5 each trait, which confirmed presence action. results higher magnitudes phenotypic coefficient (PCV) genotypic (GCV). high heritability (72% 92%) advance (36.63% 139.72%) weight (g), fruits Among crosses, cross ST-100 × showed maximum positive heterosis over mid parent (566.6%) better (455.5%). identified genotypes can be used further breeding programs improve yield other

Root-synthesized cytokinins improve shoot growth and fruit yield in salinized tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants

Salinity limits crop productivity, in part by decreasing shoot concentrations of the growth-promoting and senescence-delaying hormones cytokinins. Since constitutive cytokinin overproduction may have pleiotropic effects on plant development, two approaches assessed whether specific root-localized transgenic IPT (a key enzyme for cytokinin biosynthesis) gene expression could substantially improv...

Genetic Diversity in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and Its Wild Relatives

Tomato, ranking 1st in the world for vegetables, accounts for 14% of world vegetable production (over 100 million metric tons/year $ 1.6 billion market; (Food and Agriculture Organisation [FAO] 2010). Tomato is a rich source of micronutrients for human diet. It is also an acknowledged model species for research on fruit development and metabolite accumulation. The major goals of tomato breeders...

HETEROSIS AND QUALITATIVE ATTRIBUTES IN WINTER TOMATO (Solanum lycopersicum L.) HYBRIDS

An investigation was carried out at the Research Farm of Olericulture Division of Horticulture Research Centre of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) to evaluate the heterotic performance in F1 generation of tomato. The hybrids showed significant variation in heterosis. The highest heterobeltiotic effects were observed in the cross P3 x P8 (-18.46%) for earliness, P1 x P6 (8.57 %)...

Identification and expression analysis of YABBY family genes associated with fruit shape in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.).

YABBY family genes play important roles in the development of leaf, flower, and fruit. The purpose of this research was to integrate all the YABBY genes and analyze the correlation between gene expression and fruit shape in tomato. Scanning of 24 genomes of sequenced species demonstrated that YABBY genes were very normal and stable in flowering plants except the seedless plants. Nine YABBY gene...

Cloning and Expression Profiling of the Polycomb Gene, Retinoblastoma-related Protein from Tomato Solanum lycopersicum L.

Cell cycle regulation mechanisms appear to be conserved throughout eukaryotic evolution. One of the important proteins involved in the regulation of cell cycle processes is retinoblastoma-related protein (RBR), which is a negative regulator of cell cycle progression, controlling the G1/S transition in plants and animals. In this study, we present the cloning and genomic structure of a putative ...
